In today’s post we’re making a trip to Nebraska City, NE to check out some shed cabins that have been converted to use for short term rental bookings through AirBNB. Read more below. 

Shed to Cabin Conversion

Linda has worked in the hospitality industry for years and has always dreamed of owing her own hotel or resort. Then comes AirBNB and disrupts the entire industry. Since Linda and her husband already owned a piece of property that wasn’t being used, they decided to build their own quiet getaway retreat. Cabins on Kearney Hill features a communal fire pit with picnic tables, lots of room for parking, WiFi, and three beautiful cabins that started life as empty sheds. Purchased from their local shed dealer, Creative Backyards in Plattsmouth, NE the cabin shells were delivered to the property and placed on concrete foundations that were made just for them. Plumbing, electric, insulation, and HVAC was installed in all three cabins and then finished out with traditional sheetrock creating cabins that function the same as tiny homes.

Short Term Rentals with AirBNB

Each cabin has its own one bedroom floor plan with full size bathroom, galley kitchen, washer and dryer, and spacious living room. On my visit I stayed the night in Cabin #1 and enjoyed watching sports on TV, WiFi for working, and I slept like a baby with all of the peace and quiet.

Beautiful, Practical & Functional

These cabins were manufactured by Mid-America Structures and sold by Creative Backyards. The model that Linda chose is the 14×32 Swiss Cabin that feature dormers and a starburst porch. There’s only 400 sq. ft. inside but the floor plans are so well thought out and efficient that there’s plenty of room and feel like a much larger space. You can be sure that all of the guests that book a stay will find it very easy to cozy up, relax, and have a great time.
